In 2007 we started by renting out our basement apartment on Craigslist to weary travelers. AirBnB wasn't even an idea yet. We found many guests wanted a fully furnished apartment instead of a boring and kitchen-less hotel room.
Aspenwood Manor was founded in 2008 when our beautiful 1908 "mansion" building underwent a massive renovation which included brand new wiring, plumbing, insulation, flooring, sheetrock, bathrooms and kitchens. Where possible, the beautiful original windows and woodwork were preserved. The renovation also provided the opportunity to add modern luxuries such as air conditioning, and wired (and wireless) internet in each room. The suites boast fine stone, tile, and woodwork as well as designer furnishings and luxury linens. In 2018, we again remodeled our original building to add a brand new cottage, new landscaping and a new parking lot (as well as the less exicitng but much needed new water and sewer mains).
We pioneered self check-in, full kitchens (not kitchenettes), and attractive custom décor. Travelers take AirBnB for granted nowadays, but back in the stone age of 2008, these were really radical ideas! No wonder AirBnB caught on!
Provo has never seen a project built like this. Every single suite is unique and designed specifically to be energy and space efficient. Check out this blog post on Better After detailing one of our renovations. We were also able to feature some of the suites on the Utah Valley Parade of Homes (home show) in 2014.
Since 2008, we've continued to grow and add 20+ more beautiful suites ranging from 220-1200 square feet and we've hosted over 15,000 guests from all over the world!
